Coach Arisohn is entering his 13th year with the Simi Valley Baseball Program and his 5th as the Varsity Head Coach. He graduated from Simi Valley High School in 2002 where he was a 3-year Varsity letter winner under former Coach Joe Gordon. In his senior year, he was 1st Team All-Marmonte, 1st Team All-Ventura County, Team MVP and was named to the Bernie Mulligan All-Star Team. He holds the school record for career triples at 10. Coach Arisohn then attended Moorpark College and played two years under Coach Mario Porto. As a freshman he was 2nd Team All-Western State Conference player, and first team his sophomore year. After graduating with an AA from Moorpark College, Coach Arisohn transferred to Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois under ABCA hall of fame coach Elliot Johnson. In his junior year he was 1st Team All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference player, NAIA 1st Team All-Region VII player, and an NAIA Honorable Mention All-American at third base. In his seinor year he was again chosen as 1st Team All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference as a utility player and was chosen as the Team MVP.
Coach Arisohn is currently a History teacher in the social science department at simi valley high school and lives in Simi with his wife and former Pioneer Angelica, and his two children Avery and AJ

Phil Belmonte #34
Coach Belmonte is entering his 19th year as a Simi Valley Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach. Coach Belmonte played 2nd base at Monroe High School (and won the City Championship in 1974), College of the Canyons, Hawaii, and the University of Azusa Pacific. At Azusa he was a 2nd Team All-American. Following his collegiate career, he played professional baseball in the Chicago Cubs organization. He finished his career assigned at the Triple A level. Coach Belmonte and his wife Cindy have a son Casey (who played at Simi Valley High school and College of the Canyons), and a daughter Jamie. They live in Simi Valley, California.
Mark Miles #6
18th year Varsity Assistant Coach, Mark Miles. Coach Miles was a player and a coach during the Mike Scyphers years and has taken a great deal of that knowledge and infused it into his players. In his first two seasons, Coach Miles was a Freshman Assistant. In his third year he was moved up to work with the varsity club. Coach. Coach Miles is also an integral figurehead in bringing back arguable the top high school alumni game in California. Coach Miles resides in Simi Valley with his wife Shannon (Sharts, SVHS Class of 1985), and sons EJ (26), Spencer (24 Currently serving in US Army), and Brady (18).
Tony Ortega #23
Coach Ortega returns for his second season on the Varsity Staff after spending the past 8 seasons coaching at Royal. While a coach at Royal, Tony became the Associate Head Coach for the last two seasons where they broke the stolen base records there in back to back seasons.
As a coach, Tony helped guide Royal to two CIF quarterfinals and one semi-final appearance. Tony also played at Royal from ‘95-’98 and was All-Marmonte and All-County in ‘98. He played at Oxnard CC in ‘99-’00 and was a preseason All American in 2000. Tony will be the 1st base coach and is in charge of our hitters and will help with game planning and base running. Tony currently lives in Simi, and his sister, Bret Guarino is a Simi grad and plays for the CSUN women’s soccer team.
Kevin Nykoluk #9
Coach Nykoluk returns for his 4th season on the Pioneer Coaching staff. Coach Nykoluk works with our catchers and and calls pitches during the games. Coach Nykoluk is a Pioneer alum, graduating in 1993. He played four years of Varsity baseball for the Pioneers under Coach Mike Scyphers. Kevin was the first Freshman to ever play on a Varsity team at SVHS. His sophomore season Kevin was selected Cal-Hi sports Sophomore of the year, Ventura County 1st team, Marmonte league 1st team, CIF-SS D1 3rd team, and participated in area code games. His junior year he was selected, Cal-Hi sports Junior of the year, Ventura County 1st team, Marmonte league 1st team, CIF-SS D1 1st team, Team CO MVP. He also participated in the area code games, Area code goodwill series in Seoul Korea, USA Baseball 18U Trials. His Senior year Kevin was selected Mizuno 1st Team All American, Ventura County Player of the Year, Marmonte League Player of the Year, CIF-SS D1 1st Team. Kevin was the first player in Ventura County history to achieve 50 hits, 50 runs scored, and 50 RBI (51) in a season. He was the teams CO-MVP, was drafted by the Expos (20th round). After High School Kevin went to Seminole State College (Oklahoma) where he was selected NJCAA region 2 1st team, NJCAA south central district 1st team, Played in JUCO world Series. Kevin then received a scholarship to the University of Miami where he played in the College World Series in Omaha Nebraska. He was then drafted and played in the Cardinals organization from 1996 to 2000. Kevin is now a Fiber Optic Engineer at UCLA, he is married to Tara (Bernard) Nykoluk SVHS class of 1993, he has three kids, Ashley 25 SVHS class of 2011, Andrew 15, and Aiden 13.
Coach Vermette joins the staff for the 2nd season with the Pioneers. Last year Scott’s JV team finished with a 19-5 record and 1st place in the Coastal Canyon League. Scott is a Simi Alum graduating in 1998. He was a 3 year varsity player, 2nd team All-Marmonte and 1st Team All-County in 1998.
In 1998, he was also named offensive player of the year. He also played two years at Moorpark college from 2000-2002 and two years at Chico State from 2002-2004. He was a teacher in Torrance for 10 years prior to coming to Simi High.
He was the head Elementary PE program and support coach for new PE teachers. He is currently in his 2nd year of teaching PE/Health at Simi High school.
Coach Santor enters his 3rd year on staff and 2nd as Head Frosh/Soph Coach. Last year the Freshman compiled a 19-9-3 record and a 2nd place finish, while the year before they went 20-4 with a 1st place finish. Brandon attended Simi High (class of 2003) playing football and baseball. In football he was voted All-Marmonte league offense and team most improved player. He then went into the US Marine Corp for 3 years.
He has been a football coach at Simi High and for the Simi Valley Vikings.
He currently works as a personal trainer and live in Simi Valley with his wife Deanna and his daughter Brielle.
